hey gorgeous... welcome to mykonos
If you're into chic boutique & star-spotting then Mykonos is the place for you.
Mykonos was made famous in the 1970s by the likes of Grace Kelly & Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis. One of our most loved films Shirley Valentine was filmed here which brings a lot of celebrities to the island year after year.
This Cosmopolitan Island also retains its Aegean culture make it a hotspot for all types of homos. It's one of the epicentres of Europe for gay culture, nightlife, and hedonism. Mykonos is a must for every LGBTQ+ human so make sure it's on your must-see list. FETA late than never we like to say!

Greece has come a long way in liberating its LGBTQ+ community, but it still has a long way to go. In 2018, IGLTA-Europe assessed 49 European countries on gay rights and Greece was found to have the highest improvements. Here are a few LGBTQ+ highlights that should be celebrated:
- Homosexual activity between males has been legal since 1951, whereas female homosexuality has always been legal (and by legal, we mean ignored entirely which in this case is great!).
- Discrimination in the workplace has been illegal since 2005.
- Same-sex couples are allowed to enter a civil union.
- LGBT peeps are allowed to serve in the military.
We wish we could jump on Greece's back with the LGBT movement and shout GIDDY UP, but everyone has to start somewhere and we’re super proud of the progress Greece is making. 🌈
JackieO's mykonos town bar is quite possibly one of the most famous gay bars on the island. It's located near the cruising area, and by cruising, we're not referring to boats! They also have a beach club at Super Paradise Beach.
The island is laced in gay bars and we can actually say its one of the few places we've been where the LGBTQ+ community outnumber the straight community, especially during XlSIOR Mykonos International Summer Gay Festival. Other bars are Babylon, Elysium's sunset bar plus many more...
As sophisticated and cosmopolitan as Mykonos is, there are plenty of places where the island meets disco. Head over to at54 for cocktails, hot tunes and eye candy bar staff.
Mykonos nightlife tends to kick in after midnight and goes on until sunrise, meaning there is never a day without a walk of shame (or a taxi of shame, if you're lucky!).
The majority of the gay bars are in and around mykonos town.
